What is Architecture?

In the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Architecture (YEM Publication, 11. Print, March 2010) architecture; it is defined as the art of preparing spaces and structures in accordance with certain measures and rules so that people can continue their actions such as housing, defense and worship.

Some formulas have also been applied to better determine the position of architecture. A formula developed taking into account the ongoing definition since antiquish day is as follows:

Architecture= Robustness + Usefulness + Beauty + Architecture = Usefulness + Continuity (Permaneery) + Beauty

Architecture = Function + (Ruction + Construction) + Artistic Value.

Architecture = (Science + Technology) x Art

As can be seen, in all art classifications from ancient to date, there is always "art" and "design" in the definitions of architecture as in "architecture". Because of the design, architecture; It's not just art, like painting, sculpture, music. It's got function in it, there's technology, it's kneaded with art. Undoubtedly, there is art in architecture as there is everywhere aesthetics enters.

HOW DID THE ARCHITECTURE COME ABOUT?

Architecture, considered the oldest profession in the world, was originally a result of the need for housing of people. We can understand that art is a part of their lives from drawings on cave walls, even if we cannot say that the people living in the caves put forth architectural artifacts. The first architectural ruins are thought to belong to the Polished Stone Age. Modern architecture began with the discovery of glass and iron, which emerged as a result of the industrial revolution. We can understand that a structure is modern, from the use of glass and iron together. The iron bridges, which began to be built towards the end of the 18th century, are known as the first authentic works of modern architecture.

TODAY'S ARCHITECTURE

Today, it would not be wrong to say that architecture comes without a blend of materials used in modern architecture and techniques that have been used for centuries.

Although those of us who are far from the architectural area usually know buildings such as houses, houses of worship, castles as architectural products, in fact the area is quite wide-ranging.

Next to historical buildings such as bridges, fountains, inns, baths, shrines, complexes; We see architectural art in places that meet modern day needs such as cafes, restaurants, houses, workplaces, shops and even in all areas where landscape applications are made.

GEOGRAPHY AND ARCHITECTURE

"Geography and space are identity."
Yusuf YAVUZ

Climate, land shapes, soil type, vegetation in the geography experienced; directly affects the materials and shapes used in the structures. In anatolian lands, each region has its own characteristics. Adobe houses are common in the Southeast, while wooden houses are common in the Black Sea. In Central Anatolia, the color of the steppe prevails, while bursa and its vicinity are dominated by china green and blue. Of course we can replicate these samples. When we examine it one by one, we can see the impact of geography on civilization and civilization on architecture.

Today's architecture is moving in the geography-civilization-architecture triangle. Especially with the increase in people's awareness of history and taste in art, this relationship has come to the forefront and modern architecture and traditional architecture have finally come to the forefront. Now get ready to see architectural structures where wood, brick and stone are intertwined with steel construction.
